Special Collection Events
Each year the OCSWMD
plans several special collection events targeted at
waste which may be difficult to dispose of or
recycle, or which may present hazards to public
health or the environment. These events may be
cosponsored by the Lee County Office of Solid Waste
Management or the Illinois Environmental Protection
Agency, or funded entirely by the OCSWMD.
Generally, we try to schedule a household hazardous
waste (HHW) collection in the spring and an
electronics recycling event in the fall, and the
location of these events alternates between Lee and
Ogle counties.
Tire and oil
recycling events are applied for every 2 or 3 years
to the IEPA and when selected, also alternate
between the two counties. To check to see if
an IEPA tire collection event is scheduled in the
area, revisit this page or check the
IEPA Website by clicking here.
Christmas tree
recycling takes place annually throughout Ogle
County between December 26th and the middle of
January. Contact us for more information.
15 Year
Solid Waste Management Plan Update: The
Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department will
be holding a series of public meetings beginning in
April, 2008 to update the Ogle County Solid Waste
Management Plan. This fifteen year update will
look at the current waste management system in Ogle County and study recommendations in the
current plan, and then consider changes to the Plan
and its recommendations. Public involvement is
encouraged. The updated plan will be adopted
by the Ogle County Board later this year. Please
contact us for more information.
